Former Manchester United manager, Erik ten Hag, has claimed that the club tried to sign Declan Rice during his tenure.
In an interview with The Athletic, Ten Hag revealed that West Ham refused to sell Rice to their Premier League rivals.
The England midfielder eventually joined Arsenal in a club-record £105 million deal in the summer of 2023.
Ten Hag has now bemoaned United’s hesitation to ramp up efforts to secure Rice.
“We wanted Declan Rice at United but the issue was that West Ham didn’t want to let him go.
“I think we could have done more to test the waters.”
