Lille head coach, Davide Ancelotti has stressed the need for a collective effort to contain Victor Osimhen ahead of their UEFA Champions League clash with Galatasaray.
Ancelotti’s side will host the Turkish Super Lig champions at the Stade Pierre-Mauroy on Tuesday night in a matchday-three encounter.
Osimhen is expected to lead Galatasaray’s attack, with the Nigeria international widely regarded as one of the best strikers in world football.
Speaking ahead of the game, Ancelotti acknowledged the striker’s quality, insisting that Lille cannot rely on an individual player to stop him.
“We stop him with a collective effort. It doesn’t depend on one player; it always depends on the collective,” Ancelotti said.
The Lille boss also highlighted Osimhen’s impact during his time at Napoli, where the striker played a pivotal role in the club’s Serie A title triumph.
“He’s a player who, at Napoli, almost won the Scudetto single-handedly,” he added.
