Former footballer Emmanuel Emenike has cried out following an attack on his hospital.
In a social media post, he called out officials of the Imo State Police Command and the State Waste Management Agency for invading his hospital facility, harassing his staff, and arbitrarily arresting two of them.

He said the officials, on separate occasions, invaded his hospital facility in Owerri, assaulted staff and patients, and took away the hospital administrator and cashier.
The football star alleged that the assault was carried out by the DPO, Owerri Urban division, and men of the Oji Police Station on September 25. It repeated the same assault on October 21.
Venting, he noted how he served Nigeria on the international stage – playing in Europe and celebrating the trophy of winning the Africa Cup of Nations- and returned home to bring his experience and success to his home state.
He noted how he invested in his community, built a hospital and a place where people could seek care, find comfort, and hold on to hope.
Describing the incident at his hospital as painful, Emenike called on the hospital community to receive the protection and support it needs, as Imo State deserves investment and its people deserve safety.
“After representing my dear country on the international stage, playing in Europe and celebrating the trophy of winning the African Cup of Nations, I choose to bring my experience and success home to Imo State.
I invested in my community and built a hospital – a place where people could seek care, find comfort and hold on to hope.
It was a gesture of faith in my people and a commitment to helping my home state thrive.
That is why the reports of what happened today, 21st of October, 2026, at Emenike Hospital are so painful. A place built to care for people should never become a place where patients are afraid, and staff feel unsafe.
We call on the hospital community to receive the protection and support it needs.
Imo State deserves investments.
Its people deserve safety, and every hospital should remain a place of care and hope”.
