Nigerian social media activist VeryDarkMan has raised concerns about alleged land fraud, advising Nigerians to verify property documents and ownership before paying for land.
The activist specifically cautioned prospective buyers in Abuja and Lagos against rushing into property deals after seeing real estate advertisements and flyers circulated by some operators.
In a statement, VeryDarkMan said, “If you live especially in Abuja or Lagos and see these people sharing real estate flyers, do not buy land from them. They have put a lot of people in land-related problems, and some of them don’t even have the land documents.”
According to him, almost all the cases discussed at an event he attended the previous day were related to land disputes and alleged fraudulent property transactions.
He further alleged that some real estate operators begin moving around with security guards after defrauding people, raising concerns about the difficulties victims may face when seeking redress.
VeryDarkMan urged Nigerians to exercise caution when purchasing land and ensure that all relevant documents are properly checked before making any financial commitment.
He stressed the importance of confirming the authenticity of land documents and verifying ownership to reduce the risk of falling victim to fraudulent property deals.
His warning serves as a reminder to prospective land buyers to carry out proper checks and seek professional assistance where necessary before completing a property transaction.
