Nigerian-born American rapper, Ms Jorji has alleged that her father sexually abused her from the age of 11 until she turned 18, claiming that her family prioritised protecting his reputation over addressing the abuse.
The rapper made the disclosure during an episode of the Honest Bunch podcast, where she also spoke about the wider problem of sexual abuse in Nigeria.
Ms Jorji said her experience reflected a troubling pattern in which victims struggle to speak out because of pressure to protect family members and preserve their public image.
