At least six persons have reported been abducted after suspected bandits again attacked Nuru Suraj estate in Millennium City in Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State in the early hours of Tuesday.
According to reports, early military personnel intervention led to the rescue of some of the victims.
Millennium City, a fast-growing Kaduna suburb, has survived several kidnapping incidents, with locals expressing worries over the inability of both the federal and the state government to bring the lingering security situation under control.
Millennium City was also the scene of the October 6 abduction of Ahmed Abubakar Zakka, his wife and their six-month-old daughter, Fatima, from Alrahus Estate.
A resident, who identified herself as Maman Hamid and lives close to the victims’ houses, revealed that the attackers gained access to the estate through its second gate before carrying out the operation.
The eyewitness said the incident threw residents into panic, adding that military personnel pursued the suspected kidnappers and rescued some of the victims, although the assailants escaped.
The number of people rescued and the whereabouts of those still missing are yet to be confirmed by the authorities.
The latest attack comes less than two weeks after police authorities reportedly announced the arrest of eight suspected kidnappers and four alleged informants during operations around Millennium City and Maraban Rido on October 12, with AK-47 rifles recovered.
