The Vice Presidential Candidate of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, Rotimi Amaechi, has revealed why President Bola Tinubu defeated him in All Progressives Congress, APC, presidential primary in 2022.

Amaechi made this revelation during an interview on Mainland FM in Lagos, where he said Tinubu did not win because he was stronger.

According to him, Tinubu won because he, Amaechi, made a mistake by listening to late President Muhammadu Buhari.

“The reason Tinubu won the APC presidential primary in 2022 was that I made a mistake by listening to late President Buhari,” Amaechi said.

He explained that Buhari told him not to campaign, and promised that he was going to announce him as his candidate.

“Buhari told me not to campaign and that he was going to announce me as his candidate. He told me that and put it in writing,” Amaechi said.

NEWSUNPLUG recalls that Tinubu went on to win the primary and was later declared winner of the 2023 presidential election.

Amaechi came second in that primary, a result many of his supporters at the time said did not reflect his strength in the party.
