Lade Adejo, wife of gospel singer Neon Adejo, has responded to the ongoing controversy involving her husband and celebrity photographer David Martins, insisting that acts of kindness should not automatically be interpreted as transactional or inappropriate.

Lade shared a series of messages on social media amid the public dispute involving Martins, his estranged wife Alicia Daniella and Neon. The controversy began after Martins accused Neon of having an inappropriate relationship with Alicia and shared alleged private conversations between the two. Neon has denied having any romantic involvement with Alicia, saying he supported her and her son during a difficult period.

In one of the posts, Lade argued that questions should be directed at those responsible for circumstances surrounding the situation rather than someone who stepped in to offer assistance.

She wrote: “Those are the questions that deserve answers, not fabricated allegations designed to transfer responsibility onto someone who was not responsible for the circumstances in question.”

According to her, the fact that another person stepped in to help a family in distress should not automatically be interpreted as an attempt to take advantage of the situation.

Lade also stressed that kindness does not always come with an expectation of receiving something in return, describing support offered to someone in need as potentially genuine.

Her comments appear to align with Neon’s explanation that his involvement was motivated by concern for Alicia and her young son. The singer previously said he paid hospital bills, provided food and arranged accommodation after learning about the difficulties she was allegedly facing.

In another section of her post, Lade addressed the tendency to create narratives around people based on assumptions, arguing that those who offer support can sometimes face criticism from the very people who benefited from their actions.

She further maintained that people should be held accountable for their own conduct instead of turning another person into a villain.

The post concluded with a strongly worded message that appeared to be directed at those questioning her husband’s intentions.

“You cannot permanently outrun the consequences of your own actions, nor can you make another person the villain simply because they exposed the responsibilities you failed to fulfill. Not every act of kindness is transactional.”

The controversy has continued to generate reactions since Martins made the allegations public. Martins had shared alleged WhatsApp conversations in which Neon reportedly sent Alicia ₦150,000, asked her for a selfie and discussed helping her and her son. Neon acknowledged supporting her but denied that his actions were romantic.

The dispute is also intertwined with allegations of abuse made by Alicia against Martins, which Martins has denied while presenting his own account of the marriage.
