The abductors of three travellers in Taraba State have demanded a ransom of N30 million for their release.
The victims, identified as Abdulrasheed Mai Mota Hussaini, Ezekiel Elkanah and Mrs Wapuken Ika, were reportedly abducted at Rafin Kada in Wukari Local Government Area of the state on Sunday, October 11, 2026.
It was gathered that the victims were returning from Takum town, where they had purchased paddy rice, when they encountered gunmen suspected to be kidnappers at about 7pm on Sunday along the Takum-Wukari Road.
Sources said the travellers were moving in a convoy of two vehicles when they approached Jakundo village in Kufai-Ahmadu Ward and encountered about four armed men who emerged from the bush and ordered them to stop.
The gunmen reportedly forced the occupants of the vehicles to disembark before taking them into the bush.
Although the whereabouts of the victims remained unknown as of the time of filing this report, sources said the abductors had contacted their families and demanded N10 million for each victim.
Daily Trust also gathered that four traders from Kano were abducted along the Rafin Kada-Donga Road early last month, with their abductors reportedly demanding N50 million as ransom.
It was not immediately clear whether the four traders had been released, as the police had not officially confirmed the incident.
