Former Nigeria coach, Philippe Troussier has named eight teams that can win the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, AFCON, which kicks off in Morocco on Sunday night.

Speaking recently to Filgoal, Troussier said: “I’m confident that the AFCON will be strong and competitive.

“Morocco lead [as the number one favourites], along Ivory Coast, Senegal, Algeria, South Africa, Cameroon, Nigeria, and Egypt.”

Troussier, 70, was a former coach of Morocco, Burkina Faso, Ivory Coast, Nigeria, and South Africa.

Morocco began their 2025 AFCON campaign with a 2-0 victory against Comoros on Sunday night.

Meanwhile, it’s yet to be seen if Troussier’s prediction will come to past because Ivory Coast are the current holder of the tournament.
