Super Eagles midfielder, Alex Iwobi has insisted that the match officials during Nigeria’s AFCON semi-final defeat to Morocco did some questionable things during the encounter.

According to Iwobi, it is a shame because the Super Eagles have been doing well at the AFCON so far.

Nigeria was defeated 4-2 in a penalty shoot-out, following a 0-0 draw after 120 minutes.

Speaking ahead of Nigeria’s tie with Egypt on Saturday evening, the Fulham star said in a video post on social media: “Unfortunately we didn’t get the result we wanted against Morocco. Credit to Morocco, congratulations to them.

“We were skeptical but some of the decisions that were not getting our way, like there are some questionable things that the officials may have done that we believe otherwise.

“At the end of the day, congratulations to Morocco. Obviously, we felt deeply disappointed that we could not qualify for the next round.

“It’s a shame because we thought we were doing really well in this tournament, it’s one of our best football performances we have played for a long time.”
