Spain coach, Luis de la Fuente, has told Lamine Yamal not to fret after the Barcelona winger came up short in the 2026 Ballon d’Or race.
Yamal placed third behind Kylian Mbappé and Harry Kane but De la Fuente is convinced that the 19-year-old will claim football’s top individual prize repeatedly in the years ahead.
Speaking after Monday night’s ceremony at the London Palladium, De la Fuente said, as quoted by Sportskeeda: “Lamine is going to win many Ballon d’Ors.
“He should rest easy, because we know who he is and the potential he possesses.”
De la Fuente also took home the Men’s Coach of the Year award after guiding Spain to 2026 World Cup glory.
