A top banker, identified only as Nosa, who was an employee of a new generation bank in Benin, Edo state, was shot dead by armed cultists over the weekend in the Government Reservation Area (GRA), Benin.

According to reports, Nosa was in his office when he received a call from an unidentified person inviting him to a hangout after work.

Unsuspecting of foul play, Nosa agreed to meet the caller at their usual spot. However, on his way there, his assailants, who had been trailing him, blocked his car and opened fire. Passersby rushed him to an undisclosed hospital, where he was confirmed dead.

Confirming the incident, the Edo Police command’s spokesperson, SP Chidi Nwabuzor, described it as very unfortunate.

“The matter is under investigation. Further information, as we progress in the investigation, will be made public by the command.”

The PPRO also gave an assurance that the killers of the promising banker would be brought to book, in order to serve as a deterrent to other criminally-minded persons.
