Callum McFarlane is set to be permanently upgraded to the first team of Chelsea Football Club after his two-game stint in charge of the Blues.

Callum McFarlane was handed the role of the first team after the termination of Enzo Maresca’s contract at the club. The Blues’ new head coach, Liam Rosenior, confirmed that he wants McFarlane in his team because of his impressive performance in the past.

McFarlane presided over the 1-1 draw away at Manchester City on Sunday, January 4, 2026 and the 2-1 defeat by Fulham on Wednesday, January 7, 2026.

He said,

“We are pretty aligned in how we think about football. I have seenLiam’s teams play before, and he plays really attractive football, really exciting footbal. Whatt fans want at any club is that their playersputg in effort, quality, commitmen,t andwing matches.Of course, you get the supporters onside by winning, and that will be the objective.”

Rosenior’s will begin his campaign as Chelsea’s head coach with an FA Cup clash against Charlton before the Carabao Cup semi-final clash against Arsenal.
