Arsenal boss, Mikel Arteta has explained his decision to start Kepa Arizzabalaga in the Carabao Cup final against Manchester City instead of David Raya.

Manchester City defeated Arsenal 2-0 to win the Carabao Cup at Wembley on Sunday evening.

The Gunners came into the game still in the hunt for four trophies.

There were no goals in the first half, as both teams sized each other up.

But City got the first goal after the break when Arizzabalaga fumbled the ball and Nico O’Reilly headed into an empty net.

O’Reilly headed in the second to seal victory for City within minutes.

Arteta was asked why he chose Kepa over Raya for the final and the Arsenal boss was defiant.

“I would do that again. No regrets,” he said.

“I have to do what I think is right, honest and fair. It would have been very, very unfair on him and on the team to do something different”.

Arsenal are nine points ahead of Manchester City in the Premier League and still in the Champions League and FA Cup.
