Former Liverpool player, Jamie Redknapp has told manager, Arne Slot that he made a mistake with his team selection as the Reds crashed out of the Carabao Cup on Wednesday.
Slot rested several Liverpool first-team players, including Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk, against Crystal Palace.
A first-half brace from Ismaila Sarr and a second-half goal from Yeremy Pino ensured Crystal Palace defeated Liverpool 3-0 at Anfield.
Speaking after the game, Redknapp told Sky Sports: “It was the wrong team, make no mistake.
“You have not made it easy for the young players because of the team and players around them.
“You can’t tell me that he is picking that team today and those subs thinking ‘that will get me a result against a really good Crystal Palace side’. You might hope they can but I didn’t believe for one second that they could beat them.
“He [Slot] has made a mistake today, but he’s been unbelievable since he came to the club. This is real pressure for everyone concerned, but that’s football.”
