Alejandro Garnacho has joined Aston Villa on a season-long loan from Chelsea, the Premier League club announced on Thursday, July 23.

The winger becomes Villa’s fourth signing of the summer transfer window, following the arrivals of Johan Manzambi, Joao Gomes and Modou Keba Cisse as the Europa League champions continue strengthening their squad.

Villa manager Unai Emery welcomed the move, praising the Argentine’s quality and commitment. “We are delighted with Alejandro. He is so talented, young and he showed us his wish to help our project. We are really happy,” Emery said.

Reports earlier this month suggested Garnacho had been informed by new Chelsea manager Xabi Alonso that he would not be guaranteed regular playing time at Stamford Bridge.

The 22-year-old leaves Chelsea after a difficult debut season following his move from Manchester United. He scored eight goals in 43 appearances across all competitions during the 2025/26 campaign. Chelsea, meanwhile, confirmed the club-record £117 million ($156 million) signing of Morgan Rogers from Aston Villa on Tuesday.
