A commercial driver and mechanic from Ikot Ekop, Mkpat Enin Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State, Okon Jimmy Ama, has been sentenced to 14 years imprisonment for r@ping his two biological daughters.

The 51-year-old Ama was sentenced on Friday, February 20, 2026 by Akwa Ibom State High Court, Uyo, presided over by Hon. Justice Winifred Effiong.

The incident occurred in 2015, when Ama repeatedly molested his daughters, aged 13 and 16 by having carnal knowledge of them severally.

Evidence presented revealed that he also used a car fan belt to beat one of his daughters and later disposed of it in a pit toilet.

Justice Effiong convicted Ama on all counts.

He was sentenced to 7 years’ imprisonment on counts 1 and 2 for Incest by Male, 3 years for Assault Occasioning Harm and 14 years for Rape.

The sentences are to run concurrently.

Prosecuting Counsel from the State Ministry of Justice, Ofonime Idio, Esq., Chief State Counsel, described the Judgment as a strong statement against Sexual Abuse and a victory for Justice in Akwa Ibom State.
