Media personality Daddy Freeze has weighed in on the controversy surrounding South African singer Tyla’s planned performance in Nigeria, arguing that many Nigerians calling for her show to be cancelled are being inconsistent

Reacting to the growing boycott campaign sparked by renewed xenophobic attacks against Nigerians in South Africa, Daddy Freeze questioned why people were targeting Tyla while continuing to patronise South African-owned businesses operating in Nigeria.

According to him, many of those criticising the singer still use MTN services and subscribe to DStv.

“Nigerians, I understand that many feel it’s wrong for Tyla to come to Nigeria while xenophobic attacks are happening in South Africa. But let me ask you this: Isn’t the SIM card in the phone you’re using to criticize Tyla an MTN SIM? Didn’t You Watch DStv Last Night? We’re Being Hypocritical. Thats The Truth.”

His remarks have sparked mixed reactions online. While some agreed with his argument, others insisted that entertainment events and commercial services should not be compared.

Reacting, El Tad (@tadeyofegbe) wrote, “Is South Africa not ran on Nigerian oil ? Did that’ stop them from killing Nigerians ?”

Ugodrey 🦅 AutoGlassDealer (@DavymartinCE0) said, “I did not watch this video cos I know how this fool operates. This was how he wanted to become the centre of attraction during ekubo’s wake keep. The mugu don’t even know canal plus now owns multi choice.”

Shaty Austin $xage (@Shaty1637450) commented, “Are we using the MTN and DSTV for free? Did all you mentions matters more than human life’s.”

Kelechi emmanuel ndubuisi (@KelechiEmm65176) added, “oga u talk like a baby….. do you know how many Nigerian shells are in MTN.”

blackjoe (@DopemuJoseph) wrote, “Na the show promoter me dey blame make Tyla stay for her country make i nonforget Oraimo cord for her neck.”

Orji Chukwudi (@MetOrjiChukwudi) stated, “Nigerians like Daddy Freeze are the kind of citizens we should not take seriously. There is virtually nothing innovative or constructive about his commentary that contributes to the development of our society or Nigeria in particular.”

Je Suis Broad (@broadzamani) commented, “Out of concept…I totally disagree with you on this. If Nigerians decided to attack MTN and Dstv you people will say they’re Nigerians investment not directly South Africa. So, this we can see directly is a South African investment, then we fight against that. Simple at ABC.”

shyguy😢 (@kevintochi80) wrote, “Daddy freeze respect ur old age and keep quite, let tyla stay back and protect their jobs.”

@Official Tkelly🖤 (@b_Tkelly001) asked, “But what if Nigeria artistes wan perform for South Africa Shey dem no go allow dem perform abi what ? I de ask question ni ohh.”
