A monkey snatched a 20-day-old baby from her mother’s arms and threw her into a nearby well in the Seoni village of Chhattisgarh, India.

Fortunately, the infant, wearing a diaper, remained afloat for nearly ten minutes before rescue efforts began.

According to local accounts, the monkey entered the home while the mother was feeding her baby and snatched the baby.

Upon hearing distress calls, villagers quickly gathered and pursued the animal, but the baby disappeared from sight.

During the search, residents noticed the child floating in the well, supported by her diaper, which acted as a life jacket and prevented her from sinking.

Villagers immediately used a bucket to pull the baby out of the water.

Rajeshwari Rathore, a nurse visiting the village for a religious event, provided emergency CPR to the infant. The prompt intervention restored the baby’s breathing within moments.

The child was then taken to a hospital for medical care.

Doctors later confirmed that the infant’s condition was stable and there was no risk of serious injury.

Speaking about the incident, the baby’s father, Arvind Rathore, who works at the Madwa Power Plant, expressed his gratitude for the swift action taken by the villagers and the nurse.

He said, “Monkeys are often seen in the village, but such an incident has never happened before. If the villagers and the nurse had not helped, anything could have happened. We are grateful to God and all the people who helped.”

Rathore also appealed to others not to leave small children unattended or in unsafe conditions.
