Liverpool legend, Jamie Carragher, has claimed that Manchester City goalkeeper, Gianluigi Donnarumma has blinked first in the Premier League title race.

According to Carragher, his Arsenal counterpart David Raya could be one of the “biggest reasons” that the Gunners win the trophy.

Donnarumma arrived at the Etihad last summer to replace Ederson.

Speaking on Monday Night Football, Carragher highlighted the contributions of both Donnarumma and Raya to their teams last weekend.

The Italian flapped at Jarrod Bowen’s cross leading to the equalizer scored by Kostantinos Mavropanos, as City played a 1-1 draw at the London Stadium.

On the other hand, Raya produced several fine saves at 0-0, before Arsenal won 2-0.

Carragher said: “I think most of us favoured Donnarumma didn’t we because of his experience and the fact he’s been there before.

“But there’s no doubt that Donnarumma blinked first. He made an error, corners can be difficult for goalkeepers now but that wasn’t really the case here.

“He wasn’t knocked out of the way or blocked, it was just really poor from the goalkeeper, he just gets it wrong and misjudges the flight of the ball.

“That was the goal that brought it back to 1-1 and Man City couldn’t go on to get that winning goal.”
