Chelsea star, Cole Palmer’s stance on joining Manchester United from Chelsea has been revealed.
Meanwhile, Manchester United have ruled out the possibility of a significant summer transfer for the unsettled Chelsea player, according to Daily Express.
Palmer has been associated with a departure from Stamford Bridge after experiencing a challenging season for both himself and the Blues.
Since his £40m transfer from Manchester City in 2023, the 24-year-old has emerged as a standout player, earning the Premier League Young Player of the Year accolade at the conclusion of his inaugural season in west London.
That season, Palmer recorded an impressive 42 goal involvements and netted an additional 18 goals last term, contributing to Chelsea’s qualification for the Champions League and their victories in the Club World Cup and Conference League.
The England international has also reached double figures this season; however, his inability to regain peak form has cast doubt on his position in Thomas Tuchel’s squad for the upcoming World Cup this summer.
Reports indicate that Palmer is feeling unsettled at Chelsea, and the Daily Express states that he would ‘welcome’ a transfer to Manchester United, the club he supported during his youth, following their qualification for the Champions League.
Furthermore, the report mentions that Palmer has been ‘impressed’ by United’s resurgence under Michael Carrick, who is currently the frontrunner to secure the managerial position permanently at the season’s end.
Manchester United has been heavily linked with a transfer for the Chelsea star; however, it is reported that the management at Old Trafford has ruled out a summer acquisition.
Although the Red Devils hold Palmer in high regard, they do not consider him a ‘primary target’ and will prioritize the recruitment of at least two central midfielders and two defenders instead.
Should Manchester United reconsider their stance, the Daily Express reports that Chelsea would demand approximately £90m to part with Palmer.
Even if United’s interest in Palmer has diminished, it still seems improbable that the playmaker will fulfill his contract with Chelsea, which extends until 2033.
