Former Liverpool player, Daniel Sturridge has identified the Reds’ player he is most excited to watch this season.
Liverpool are poised for a new beginning under Andoni Iraola, who has taken over from Arne Slot following his dismissal at the conclusion of the 2025-26 season.
Sturridge discussed Liverpool’s upcoming campaign on Sky Sports, highlighting 17-year-old winger, Rio Ngumoha as a player he is particularly enthusiastic about.
He noted that the young star’s dribbling skills are a standout aspect of his game, suggesting that adding goals to his repertoire would take his performance to the next level.
“I am very excited about this player because he possesses immense talent in one-on-one situations, and he can manoeuvre in both directions. While he appears to be more at ease and natural on the left wing, I believe he has the potential to evolve into an exceptional right winger.
“He needs to incorporate goals into his game, and when he reaches the byline, he should deliver precise crosses or passes into key areas. Additionally, he must engage in dialogue with Isak and Wirtz, expressing his intentions and asking about what they need from him,” he stated.
Rio Ngumoha played on the right wing, a position that has been occupied by Mohamed Salah for nearly a decade, as Liverpool drew 2-2 with Newcastle United in their first game of the season.
Last season, Ngumoha scored two goals and provided one assist for Liverpool in 551 minutes across 19 Premier League appearances.
