Manchester United legend Wayne Rooney has named summer signing summer signing Bryan Mbeumo as the club’s best player so far this season.
According to Rooney, Mbeumo has proved him ‘wrong’ since his move to Old Trafford in the summer.
Recall that the Red Devils signed the Cameroon international from Brentford for £65m.
The 26-year-old scored a goal in Man United’s 2-1 win against Liverpool over the weekend.
Speaking to the BBC podcast, Rooney said: “For me, he [Mbeumo] has been Manchester United’s standout player this season, and he has not got his rewards for his hard work and the sacrifices he has made for the team.
“It was a great goal. I will be honest, I was a bit sceptical when United signed him, I didn’t know if he could come and play for Manchester United, but he has proved me wrong.
“I think he has been a great addition to the team and by far United’s best player of the season.”
