Former Chelsea defender, Glen Johnson, has urged the Blues to swoop for Arsenal transfer target Julian Alvarez.

Johnson believes the Atletico  Madrid striker Victor would be a ‘perfect’ addition for Xabi Alonso’s side at Stamford Bridge.

Alvarez has been linked with a move to Arsenal and Barcelona from Atletico Madrid this summer.

Atletico Madrid doesn’t want to sell their star player to Barcelona, but could allow him to join another club this summer.

“Signing a striker should be priority number one for Chelsea this summer,” Johnson told Football London.

“You can’t compete at the top of the Premier League without an out-and-out striker scoring 20 goals a season, and Chelsea don’t have someone of that description at the moment.

“I think Julian Alvarez from Atletico Madrid would be perfect. He seems like he’s on the move this summer, and that’s exactly the type of player Chelsea needs to go out and snap up.”
