Former Liverpool man, Jamie Carragher, has said that the Premier League title this season would be decided by goal difference with Manchester City having the last laugh.

He hailed Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal by beating Fulham 3-0, stating that it ‘certainly’ increases the pressure on Manchester City as they head to Merseyside to play Everton on Monday night.

He said on Sky Sports, “Arsenal were outstanding. I believe this is the best they have appeared in some time, perhaps since their victory over Tottenham in the north London derby.

“They received some assistance from Fulham, but they appeared lively, and it was significant for improving their goal difference as well.

“They did not seem fatigued, weary, or anxious, which has been the case recently, but again, part of that can be attributed to Fulham’s poor performance.

“We will observe how the situation unfolds, but it has certainly placed additional pressure on Manchester City, who are facing a challenging match against Everton.

“I anticipate that Manchester City will prevail in that match, but it may ultimately hinge on goal difference, meaning that merely winning may not suffice.”

Following their match against West Ham, Arsenal’s last two fixtures in the Premier League are against the already-relegated Burnley and Crystal Palace.

On the other hand, Manchester City will contend with Brentford, Crystal Palace, Bournemouth, and Aston Villa as they pursue their seventh Premier League title since 2018.
