Chelsea legend, Frank Lampard, has likened Moises Caicedo to the club’s iconic midfielders, Claude Makelele and N’Golo Kante.

Lampard stated that it is “fair” to compare Caicedo to Makelele and Kante, noting that the young Ecuador international is quickly developing within the team.

“I played with both Kante and Makelele, and they were both amazing,” Lampard said to talkSPORT when asked on the comparisons.

“Makelele was a different type to N’Golo because N’Golo could really get around everywhere, whereas Makelele basically sat in front a lot.

“Caicedo can really do the Makelele break-up stuff really well. He closes down space really quickly, and he’s showing last season and this season that he has got the Kante bits in his game.

“Caicedo is still a young player, and he is growing quickly within the group. I think it’s a fair comparison.”

In 2023, Caicedo joined Chelsea from Brighton for a then British record fee of £115 million.
