Manchester United’s minority owner, Sir Jim Ratcliffe, has said manager Ruben Amorim has three years to prove himself.

Ratcliffe appointed Amorim as Erik ten Hag’s replacement in November 2024.

However, the 40-year-old has struggled to return the Red Devils to their glory days.

Currently, United sit 10th in the Premier League table, six points behind leaders Arsenal.

Over the last few weeks, Amorim’s future has been questioned due to United’s ongoing struggles.

But Ratcliffe, who owns 25% of United, told The Business podcast: “He has not had the best of seasons. Ruben needs to demonstrate he is a great coach over three years. That’s where I would be.

“The press, sometimes I don’t understand. They want overnight success. They think it’s a light switch. You know, you flick a switch and it’s all going to be roses tomorrow.”
