Manchester United manager, Michael Carrick has offered his assessment of forward, Marcus Rashford following the team’s recent match against Fulham.
The Red Devils were unable to secure a victory, settling for a 1-1 draw at Craven Cottage, which extended their winless streak to three consecutive matches.
Carrick addressed the media following the game, noting that the 28-year-old forward had to be substituted in the second half due to physical discomfort.
The former midfielder expressed confidence in Rashford’s ability to regain his scoring touch, despite his failure to score in six consecutive games since his return to the club.
“I believe he posed a genuine threat. He could have scored a couple of goals for us today. He’s getting into some excellent positions. It’s simply not happening for him at the moment. But it will. It will.
“We had to substitute him because he experienced some discomfort. We know Marcus well, we know how to get the best out of him, and we will continue to support him in that manner,” he stated.
Rashford was deployed in Manchester United’s attack alongside Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo, frequently exchanging positions with the Brazilian.
He has yet to regain the confidence of supporters following loan spells at Aston Villa and Barcelona, and opinions regarding his future remain divided.
Rashford was substituted after 77 minutes but recorded the highest number of touches in the opposition’s penalty area throughout the match.
Additionally, he attempted more shots than any other player on the pitch, with six attempts, suggesting that his failure to convert chances is not attributable to a lack of opportunities. He also created four chances and missed one big chance.
