Former Real Madrid striker, Michael Owen has named only two clubs to challenge for the Premier League title next season.

This season, Liverpool cruised to the league title last month to mark an incredible first season for manager Arne Slot at Anfield.

But Slot’s side were humbled on Sunday as they suffered only their third league defeat of the season to Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

Goals from Enzo Fernandez, Cole Palmer, and an own goal from Jarell Quansah gave the Blues a 3-1 against the visitors.

Speaking after the game, Owen said only Liverpool and Arsenal will challenge for the Premier League title next season, rulling out Manchester City.

“You can look at an extreme like Pep Guardiola this season and say, ‘that’s why you should have more players’, but he is had thin squads all his life,” Owen told Premier League Productions.

“That bit him on the bum this season, but look at Chelsea – too many good players is a problem as well. So you have to be careful with the balance of your squad.

“It’s a careful balance, and Liverpool have got it spot on at the moment so we will see what happens.

“I can’t see anybody beating Liverpool next year. Man City are miles off it. Arsenal are possibly the only challengers for me,” he added.
