Former Arsenal manager Arsène Wenger has said that Artificial Intelligence, AI, could give the club’s boss, Mikel Arteta, an edge in the Premier League title race.

Wenger, however, warned Arteta against relying too heavily on AI.

Arsenal go into the international break with a four-point lead over second-placed Manchester City, following a 2–2 draw with Sunderland at the weekend.

Before their game against the Black Cats at the Stadium of Light, Arsenal boss Arteta confirmed he has been consulting AI.

Wenger said, “It can help to make better decisions. AI has a fantastic quality, it can absorb millions of different situations and give you an answer in one second or a fraction of a second.

“AI can say something and the personality of a coach can say that’s wrong. As long as the human being keeps control, authority and power to make the decision you can use any scientific tool.

“But what is happening and what is dangerous is if the science dominates the decisions.”

After the FIFA international break, Arteta and his Arsenal team will play their North London rivals, Tottenham, in the Premier League.
