Liverpool legend, Steven Gerrard, has hit out at Manchester United defender, Lisandro Martinez over his explosive comments about the Red Devils.
Gerrard insisted that Martinez has made a bigger mess, urging him to shut up and to focus on his performances on the pitch.
Speaking on the latest episode of The Overlap, the former England midfielder said, “That (Martinez’s outburst) tells me that the senior players are talking about it as a group.
“So I admire the fact that he’s tried to be honest and open. He’s actually tried to protect Michael Carrick in a way, but he’s made a bigger mess.
“He never said this after Tottenham when he made the mistake with Solanke, did he? Just shut your mouth and defend.”
Martinez had criticised Man United’s hierarchy for not investing in signing new players that would improve the squad during the summer transfer window.
The Argentina international was speaking after Man United’s 2-0 defeat to Atletico Madrid on Tuesday.
