A serving member of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has died after a trailer rammed into several vehicles around Agodi Gardens in the Ibadan North Local Government Area of Oyo State.

Several other people also sustained varying degrees of injuries in the incident which occurred on Monday, October 12, 2026.

It was gathered that the truck driver had allegedly hit several vehicles around the Sango area of the same local government before proceeding towards Agodi Gardens, where the trailer reportedly rammed into a motorcycle carrying the corps member, k!lling the victim on the spot.

An eyewitness, who spoke to punch on condition of anonymity because he was not permitted to speak with the media, claimed that the articulated vehicle had been involved in multiple collisions around Sango before the fatal incident.

“The articulated vehicle had been involved in multiple collisions around Sango before this fatal incident occurred. The truck driver had reportedly his several vehicles around Sango before proceeding towards Agodi,” the eyewitness said.

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Oyo State Sector Command, confirmed the incident through its sector commander, Corps Commander Kehinde Dahunsi, who spoke with newsmen.

Dahunsi said the motorcycle rider sustained a fractured leg and was taken to the University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan, for treatment, while the corps member’s body was deposited at the State Hospital morgue.

Dahunsi said emergency responders arrived at the scene and evacuated the victims.

He added that officials could not establish the deceased’s identity during the rescue operation.

“We recorded a traffic crash today around Agodi Gardens within the Ibadan metropolis. It involved a truck and a motorcycle carrying a corps member,” Dahunsi said.

“Unfortunately, we lost the corps member, and the rider also sustained a fracture in his leg.”

He said the rescue team transported the deceased to the State Hospital morgue and took the injured rider to UCH for medical attention.

Meanwhile, the NYSC Public Relations Officer in Oyo State, Mrs Abimbola Faniyi, said efforts were ongoing to identify the deceased and obtain further information, including her Place of Primary Assignment (PPA).
