Premier League side Fulham have stepped up their pursuit of Nigerian defender Chibuike Nwaiwu, submitting an improved offer after their initial bid was rejected by Turkish club Trabzonspor.

According to Turkish outlet Fanatik, Fulham’s first offer of €15 million was turned down, prompting the London club to return with an improved €20 million bid for the centre-back.

Trabzonspor are reportedly open to selling the 22-year-old but are holding out for a fee in the region of €30 million to €35 million.

Nwaiwu has also attracted interest from fellow Premier League club West Ham United, who are monitoring his situation. The defender joined Trabzonspor from Austrian side Wolfsberger AC in January and has quickly established himself as one of the club’s key defensive players, with his performances now attracting attention from clubs in England.
