The Nigerian film industry has been thrown into mourning following reports of the death of veteran Nollywood actor Patrick Okoye, popularly known as “Energy.”
According to reports, the actor passed away in the early hours of Thursday, May 28, 2026. Beyond his contributions to Nollywood, Patrick Okoye was also said to be a lecturer at Nnamdi Azikiwe University.
News of his passing first emerged through a post shared on his official Instagram page around 11:00 a.m. The post featured a photo of the late actor alongside the caption, “Rest in peace legend.”
Following the announcement, fans, colleagues, and well-wishers flooded social media with condolence messages, expressing shock and sadness over the loss of the veteran actor.
