Real Madrid icon, Raúl González unexpectedly said that Lionel Messi is the greatest player of all time, even before Cristiano Ronaldo.
He said the Argentine player was also better than Zinedine Zidane, Ronaldo Nazario, and Luis Figo.
Speaking to EDYYN through Mundo Deportivo, Raúl mentioned that Messi makes everything seem simple when he’s playing.
The Spaniard said the Argentine was playing football in a way that felt like he was just kicking a ball with his friends on the street.
He said, “I’ve been lucky to play with players like Zidane, Cristiano, Ronaldo, [Luis] Figo…
“But I believe Messi is the best, he’s really unique. He makes everything look easy, things that seem impossible to you, he makes them look simple, like he’s just playing with his friends on the street.”
Raúl also praised Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo in 2014, calling them the best players in the history of the game.
He said via SI, “I think now he [Cristiano] is at the top, and if he keeps going like this, he could be the best of all time.
“I believe Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi are two of the top players ever to have played the game.”
