Actress Vinessa Shaw, widely recognized for her role in the 1993 cult classic Hocus Pocus, is heading for divorce after nearly a decade of marriage.

According to documents obtained by TMZ, Shaw’s husband, Kristopher Gifford, filed for divorce on Thursday, May 22, citing irreconcilable differences as the reason for the split.

The filing lists the date of separation as October 24, 2023, indicating the couple has been living apart for more than a year and a half. Gifford is seeking joint legal and physical custody of their 7-year-old son, Jack, and has made no requests regarding spousal support in the documents.

Shaw and Gifford married in 2017 after nearly a decade together. The couple began dating in 2007 and got engaged the following year.

Though Shaw did not appear in the 2022 sequel, her portrayal of Allison Watts, the love interest of Max Dennison, in the original Hocus Pocus remains one of her most recognizable roles. Her filmography also includes performances in The Hills Have Eyes (2006), 3:10 to Yuma, Eyes Wide Shut, and Ladybugs.

Shaw’s representatives have not yet responded to requests for comment regarding the divorce.
