Businesswoman Laura Ikeji has recounted how she lost a friend because of social media publicity.
In a video she shared online, she said she refused to publicly acknowledge the Cartier bracelet she received as a birthday gift from the friend, which dissolved their friendship.
According to her, the friend was initially a customer before they became friends, and she had surprised Laura with an expensive bracelet on her birthday in March, 2025.
She said that although she was excited about the gift, she told her friends about it but didn’t make it public, which didn’t sit well with the friend.
Laura said she didn’t flaunt the bracelet online because she was no longer in the era of sharing every personal experience online.
She said the woman later challenged her, asking if she thought the bracelet was fake, and after so much back-and-forth, she returned the gift to her,, and that was how their friendship ended.
