Nollywood actress Omotola Ekeinde has revealed how much she earned from her cinema movie, A Mother’s Love.
In a video she shared online to give the public a rundown of events, she revealed that the movie grossed over N103 million at the cinema, and that other producers only made N22 million.
She explained that lots of deductions were made from the money. From exhibitors to distributors, advertising, CAT, entertainment tax, withholding tax and more.
Keeping to her promise, Omotola said 10 per cent of the N22 million was donated to an NGO, Slum to School.
“Our last cinema run was on the 19th of April; it was a beautiful day. I had a nice time at the cinema, and it was my first time doing cinema runs. It was a challenge, but I rose to the challenge, I believe. You know, as a producer, you have to show up, and that was a challenge I wasn’t ready for.
Unfortunately, that week, I had to pull the movie out of the cinema because of pressing issues. I know I would do the movie a disservice if I left it in the cinemas, and I wouldn’t have the time to promote it or be there in the cinemas, as the culture was or is at this time.
At the end of our run, we had made a N103, 094, 633. After deduction from exhibitors, value added tax VAT, entertainment tax, withholding tax, and every other thing. The money that was accrued to us as producers of Mother’s Love was N22 million. Ten per cent of that money, as promised by Red Hot, was donated to the NGO ” Slum to School”.
