Singer Oyinlomo Diamond has shared a powerful reflection on her journey, revealing that she has spent the last 10 years free from domestic violence.
She emphasized that violence has no place in any romantic relationship or marriage, stressing, “Nobody should raise hands on each other in a relationship or marriage. You don’t raise your hands on someone you love.”
According to her, leaving the abusive relationship was not a spontaneous decision. She explained that she deliberately planned her exit in 2016 in order to leave with her children. She also noted that her experience may not be the same for everyone, adding, “I will not advise any woman that is not financially stable to leave with their kids at once. It was easy for me because I was the breadwinner in the relationship.”
Looking back on her progress, she expressed gratitude for how far she has come, saying, “I am proud of myself today because I am 20 times better than I was 10 years ago,” highlighting her personal growth and resilience.
She also spoke about the challenges of raising her children alone while maintaining her values and stability. “Taking care of kids alone and not sleeping around to take care of them is a flex for me,” she said.
Using her story as a message of encouragement, she urged anyone experiencing abuse to prioritize their safety: “If you are going through domestic vi0lence in your relationship or marriage, LEAVE TO LIVE. Don’t think about what people will say.”
She further revealed that she has completely severed ties with her former partner, stating, “I have never set eyes on him in 10 years. Toxic and violent people don’t change.”
Now, she confidently embraces her healing journey, declaring, “I am a survivor.”
