Nollywood actress Regina Chukwu has shared her thoughts on the practice of secretly recording private conversations amid the controversy surrounding her colleague Toyin Abraham’s leaked voice note.
In a social media post, Regina questioned why people secretly record phone conversations with their friends and acquaintances, expressing confusion over the reason behind such actions.
The actress explained that she believes in saying things she can confidently repeat to someone’s face rather than speaking negatively about them behind their backs.
However, she admitted that it would deeply hurt her to discover that someone she freely chats with had secretly recorded their private conversation without her knowledge.
Regina wondered why people would feel the need to record conversations with those they consider friends, particularly when there appears to be no obvious reason for doing so.
Sharing her thoughts, she wrote:
“I am still trying to understand the norms about secretly recording phone conversations your friend/acquaintance is having with you like, why the recording in the first place?
Thank God, I will never say things I can’t say to your face, behind you! But I do get deeply hurt if someone I am comfortable gisting with records our conversation in secrecy.
I mean, what exactly?”
