Former Argentina striker, Maxi Lopez, has warned Cristiano Ronaldo enthusiast iShowSpeed to refrain from attending La Albiceleste’s 2026 semi-final against England on Wednesday (July 15) in Atlanta.
The YouTuber had appeared at Lionel Scaloni’s team’s quarter-final match against Switzerland in an attempt to ‘jinx’ them after Ronaldo’s Portugal was eliminated from the tournament following a 1-0 defeat to Spain in the Round of 16.
The Albiceleste took the lead with a goal from Alexis Mac Allister within the first 10 minutes, but Dan Ndoye equalized midway through the second half.
Despite Breel Embolo receiving a red card five minutes later, Murat Yakin’s team managed to hold on for extra time, where goals from Julian Alvarez and Lautaro Martinez proved to be crucial.
“Speed, vigilante, don’t show up again,” Lopez told the popular content creator (as per PaseClave).
“You tried to jinx us last night. If you put on the Argentina jersey again, we’re gonna beat your ass, I’m telling you.”
This incident marked the second occasion in three knockout matches that Lionel Messi and his teammates required extra time, having also gone the full distance in a 3-2 Round of 32 victory over competition newcomers Cabo Verde.
The Albiceleste narrowly escaped extra time in a 3-2 triumph over Egypt in the Round of 16, scoring three times in the last 11 minutes, with Enzo Fernandez netting a winner in the 93rd minute.
