FC Midtjylland striker Stanley Iheanacho has described Super Eagles forward Victor Osimhen as his biggest football inspiration, saying the Galatasaray star’s journey and mentality continue to influence his career.
The Nigerian forward made the remarks after returning to the Danish club ahead of the 2026/27 season following a productive spell with Portuguese side CD Mafra.
Striker credits Osimhen’s mentality
Iheanacho has enjoyed an impressive start to pre-season, scoring in friendly matches against Lillestrøm, Malmö and Silkeborg to strengthen his case for a regular place in Midtjylland’s squad.
Speaking to Midtjylland’s official media, the striker said Osimhen’s determination are qualities he admires.
“His warrior mentality is truly motivating, and he gives his all when he plays – he possesses an insatiable hunger for goals. I can see many qualities in him that resonate with me.”
Dream of sharing the pitch
Iheanacho also revealed that he studies Osimhen’s matches and interviews as part of his own development, while expressing his ambition to one day play alongside the Nigeria international.
“I watch his highlights and all the interviews he participates in. I strive to learn from him, and my dream is to share the pitch with him someday.”
The forward earned a return to Midtjylland after an impressive campaign with CD Mafra, where he scored 14 goals in Portugal’s Liga 3.
