The governor of Kwara state, Abdulrahman Abdulrasaq, has appealed to President Tinubu to increase the minimum wage from N70,000 to N100,000.

Speaking in Lagos state on Friday, May 29 when members of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF), led by Vice President Kashim Shettima, paid a visit to President Tinubu at his Lagos residence, Abdulrasaq stated that some states have already started paying N100, 000 as minimum wage.

‘’On the issue of minimum wage, most of the states are paying almost N100, 000 todayand I urge your execellency, lets have a discussion on moving the minimum wage to a minimum of N100,000. We know we will get the normal support from you as we go ahead to implement that.” she said

President Bola Tinubu had in July 2024, signed the new National Minimum Wage Bill into law, raising the minimum wage from N30,000 to N70,000.
