Shay Martin has remarried one year after her husband di£d from colon cancer.
The influencer announced in an Instagram video on Sunday, Aug. 2, that she has remarried following the d£ath of her husband Tanner Martin from stage 4 colon cancer in June 2025.
In a statement shared with PEOPLE, the influencer confirms her marriage and says, “I’m grateful for all of the people who have followed our story and who genuinely care about AmyLou and I. I also understand that people have questions and are curious about where life has taken us. That’s one of the reasons I decided to share the reel on Instagram.”
She continues to open up about the hopes her late husband had for her and their daughter, AmyLou.

Shay says, “I wanted people to hear directly from me about Tanner, the conversations we had about my future and AmyLou’s future, and his hope that someday I would find someone who would love AmyLou as his own and honor the life Tanner and I built together.”
She encourages people to watch her video in its entirety, saying, “Those are my words, and that is where I’ve shared what I feel comfortable sharing publicly about Tanner’s wishes for us and this new chapter in our lives.”
Shay concludes, “Love does not erase love. Tanner will always be AmyLou’s dad, and he will always be an important part of our family and our story. I will always love Tanner. More than anything, I hope people will remember the advice Tanner left all of us: ‘Be kind and assume good intent.’ ”
In her social media post, she talked about the support she’s received from her new husband.

“He has never asked me to leave Tanner behind, never. He honors my memory with Tanner, he honors Tanner. He celebrates the love that I had and have for Tanner, and he loves AmyLou the way Tanner would want AmyLou to be loved,” Shay said.
The podcast host added that “moving forward is not the same as moving on.”
Shay continued, “I remember thinking to myself, even during the five years Tanner fought cancer, ‘I’m never going to remarry. I’m going to be alone, and I’m gonna live with that.’ And eventually, I changed, and decided that there is enough love to give. You can never run out of love, and I will never graduate from grief.”
The emotional video includes clips of her and Tanner, as well as ones of her and her new partner.
There was also a photo of her new husband feeding the daughter she had with Tanner.
Shay also said the joint account she and Tanner created wasn’t “intended to become a reality TV show.”
“I will continue to share my life in the ways that feel right for me and for my family. My first responsibility is to my family, not the internet,” she said, adding that Tanner’s legacy “was one of kindness, hope and assuming good intent, that is the legacy I intend to continue honoring.”
Shay and Tanner amassed a large and supportive following online for their content documenting Tanner’s cancer journey after he was diagnosed with the disease at just 25 years old in 2020.
In February 2023, Tanner was told that his cancer was no longer curable. Doctors estimated that he would have two to five years left to live at the time.
Throughout his diagnosis, the two posted videos with health updates and let followers into their lives, including announcing the news that Shay was pregnant with their child together back in November 2024.
Shay gave birth to AmyLou in May 2025, and the following month, Tanner’s d£ath at age 30 was announced in a pre-recorded video.
Since then, Shay has documented her grief on their social media account, evolving the account into a space for grieving individuals to find community and as a place to memorialize Tanner’s memory.
Earlier this year, she launched a podcast, Grief Witnessed, where she hosts people who have experience with losing a loved one and tries to bear witness to their pain.
