Nollywood actress and former Big Brother Naija star Bisola Aiyeola has emotionally reflected on the death of her daughter Layla’s father.

Speaking during an interview on Ife Agoro’s show, the actress recounted how he passed away in 2018 after battling an illness.

Bisola explained that he had been hospitalised at the time, and she, alongside her mother and sister, had gone to see him. According to her, doctors had already fixed a discharge date, giving the family hope that he was recovering.

She revealed that before his death, she had planned to do something special for him but kept delaying it. The actress added that during one of their phone conversations, he sounded much healthier and even confirmed when he would be leaving the hospital.

Sadly, a few days later, she received a shocking call from someone using his phone, informing her that he had died.

The heartbreaking news left her and her family devastated. Bisola said she immediately contacted her mother and sister, and they all broke down in tears.

She shared that Layla was only eight years old when her father died, describing the experience of telling her daughter about the loss as one of the most painful moments of her life.

Bisola also clarified that he was never an absentee father, noting that he remained involved in Layla’s life and checked on her whenever he could.

The actress rarely speaks publicly about him, but she previously mentioned him while receiving the Trailblazer Award at the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards. During her acceptance speech, she expressed sadness that he was not alive to witness her achievements in the film industry.

In her words:

“It was a heartbreaking experience. He died in August 2018. He was sick and had been on admission in the hospital. My mother and sister went to visit him on a Sunday, and he died on Friday. We had even spoken over the phone, and he was sounding better and said he would be discharged on Friday. Someone later called me on his phone from the hospital and said he was no more.”
