Three serving senators from Kebbi State; Adamu Aliero, Yahaya Abdullahi, and Garba Maidoki have announced their intention to defect from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The announcement followed a meeting with President Bola Tinubu at the State House in Abuja on Friday, May 9.

The senators were accompanied to the meeting by Abdullahi Ganduje, the national chairman of the APC. Aliero represents Kebbi Central, Abdullahi represents Kebbi North, and Maidoki represents Kebbi South in the National Assembly.

Also present at the meeting were Nasir Idris, governor of Kebbi State; Ahmad Aliyu, governor of Sokoto State; and Atiku Bagudu, the minister of budget and economic planning.

The decision by the lawmakers to align with the ruling party is seen as a strategic boost for the APC, both in Kebbi State and within the national legislative structure.
