The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Olohundare Jimoh, has directed the Deputy Commissioner of Police, SCID, to discreetly investigate the de@th of the former governorship candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in the November 16, 2024, gubernatorial election in Ondo State.
Akingboye di£d in the early hours of Wednesday, September 3, at his residence in Victoria Garden City (VGC), Lagos, under controversial circumstances.
In a statement released, the spokesperson of the state police command, DSP Oluseyi said a team of detectives, accompanied by the Command’s Crime Scene Investigation vehicle, visited the residence over the weekend where the body was discovered. He said the area was cordoned off as forensic experts deployed specialized tools and scientific methods to secure evidence and analyse the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Speaking to Channels TV during the visit of the police detectives, the son of the deceased, Samuel Akingboye, said he called for the investigation by the police so as to uncover the mystery surrounding his father’s demise.
‘’I saw him the day before so it is very shocking to see this happen, that is why I opened the case so I know how he d!ed because I wasn’t getting any explanation and its been tough. I just want to do the best by him and know how he d!ed. There has to be an explanation and that explanation is what we are all looking for. ‘’
Also speaking, the daughter of the deceased, Michaella Akingboye, appealed to Nigerians to disregard the false narratives been peddled on social media. She said the family believes in the police to unravel the mystery surrounding her father’s demise.
