Barcelona manager, Hansi Flick, has said he doesn’t know if Lionel Messi will return to the club in the future.

Flick, speaking to the media on Friday, reminded them that his contract with the LaLiga champions runs out in 2027.

Messi has been linked with an emotional return to the Camp Nou for many years and recently visited the revamped stadium.

“Messi is the best player of the last ten years, if not more – I’ve always enjoyed watching him play,” Flick said.

“His contract ends in 2028, and my contract ends in 2027 so his coaching doesn’t depend on me.”

Messi could be available for a short-term deal in the New Year ahead of the 2026 World Cup, when the Major Soccer League goes on a break.
