Nigerian comedian Ayo Makun, better known as AY, has written a motivational note to the public following the death of actor Alex Ekubo.
In a lengthy post on his Instagram page, he noted how life has gone on since Alex Ekubo’s burial. He pointed out how, after his burial, many rushed to catch flights, hurried back to work, markets opened, children went to school, wedding plans were made, and phones kept ringing.
AY said the painful reminder is that life never pauses for anyone. He explained that no matter how loved, famous, or wealthy one is, the world keeps moving when they leave.
The comedian said the greatest lesson is not how long we live, but how well we love.
“On Thursday, we laid Alex to rest.
As the dust settled on his grave, life quietly continued.
Some people rushed to catch flights.
Some hurried back to work.
Markets opened.
Children went to school.
World Cup football matches were played.
Traffic returned to the roads.
Laughter echoed somewhere.
Birthday cakes were cut.
Wedding plans were made.
Phones kept ringing.
Bills still had to be paid.
Dreams still demanded pursuit.
The painful reminder is that life never pauses for anyone.
No matter how loved we are, how famous we become, how much wealth we gather, or how many hearts we touch, the world keeps moving when we are gone.
Perhaps that is why the greatest lesson is not how long we live, but how well we live.
To love deeply.
To forgive quickly.
To be kind and generous.
To leave footprints that time cannot erase.
Because one day, for each of us, life will continue without us, too.
Until then, let us make every moment count.
Rest in peace, Alex”.
